Repetitive Strain Injury Treatment in Fulham at Fulham Osteopaths

Common Causes Of Repetitive Strain Injury

RSI affects many parts of our body, painfully restricting our movement and enjoyment of life. The main causes & affected areas include:
Repeating the same activities and movements without rest
Fatigue of the muscles, ligaments and tendons caused by over straining
A resulting lack of blood supply
RSI commonly affects: Wrists, fingers, elbows, shoulders, hips, feet and even your back.

Repetitive Strain (RSI) Explained In Plain English

RSI ranges from a niggle to a constant burning pain.

It happens when we micro-injure our tissues, enough that some repair work is required. This is the normal way the body works. If we don’t rest the injury, or if our system is weakened by stress, poor diet etc, the problem gets worse, till eventually even rest doesn’t help.

Sometimes your body can get on top of the inflammation and swelling, but more often the problem doesn’t get better properly and feels raw, painful or vulnerable so you can't participate in normal activities.

Reacting early to RSI prevents increasing pain and further complications happening over time, and will help keep you doing the things you love.

Major Causes Of RSI

We've already dealt with some of the common causes such as stress or overuse.. However, let’s dive in a little deeper to see which RSI conditions Osteopathic care provides a safe non surgical solution for:

Here the tendons and tissues which connect our muscles to our bones cannot repair fast enough and get swollen and sore. This includes Achilles Tendonitis, Tennis and Golfers elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Shin Splints

Here overuse of the shin muscles creates a swollen, irritated area, also known as compartment syndrome. Often found in runners, it is complicated by a mindset that pushes through pain.

Plantar Fasciitis

Here tissues across the sole of the foot, sometimes especially where it meets the heel, are overstressed, chronically tight and inflamed, and very painful.

How Does An Osteopath Treat RSI?

An Osteopath will only use their hands and knowledge to skilfully and logically assess your symptoms. Years of training and experience help to feel what is normal and what is in trouble, and Osteopathy is a fantastic method for getting your body back in tip-top shape again.

We don’t use machines or ask you to do endless exercises that you find difficult and don’t help. This is especially true with RSI. We just get your body working properly again by aligning everything, and deeply relaxing the tissues without adding more irritation.

Treatment is typically very gentle and relaxing. Healing comes naturally without drugs or surgery meaning you can naturally enjoy the miracle of your body healing itself.

And here's the best bit... By fixing the root cause of your problems, frequently people find that related issues that are connected also show drastic improvement, so you get help with all sorts of issues you didn’t even realise were connected.

Osteopath Reviews

From clients benefiting from a better quality life

I cannot speak highly enough of the service here. I came on the advice of a freind with a suspected frozen shoulder, which at the time was astonishingly painful. It turns out that it was likely a partially dislocated shoulder, and thanks to the brilliant analysis and help of Omer it is now on the mend. The help and advice was spot on, and I'll make a habit of coming with any muscular problem in the future.Put simply, if you have a problem this is the place to go. It is absolutely amazing.

My 8 month old daughter had treatment with Giulia at Fulham osteopath as she wasn’t meeting some milestones and we were a little concerned. Giulia was very welcoming and reassuring right from the beginning. When my daughter had her first treatment with Giulia, the next day she was able to meet that milestone as if nothing had happened, we were amazed at how quickly the treatment worked and we were really pleased to see that.Giulia recommended to have two more treatments for her and with those treatments things just got better for her in regards to meeting her milestones. We highly recommend Giulia for anyone who might be facing the same concerns for their little ones.

I have been treated by Verena Leo at Fulham Osteopaths in the last few months for a hip imbalance which causes complications such as trochanteric tendonitis and bursitis. But of course she looks at the skeleton as a whole. She has a very informed and gentle approach, which I like. She never rushes things, explains well and gives exercises to help further at home. I am pleased and have brought my teenage daughter, who has posture issues, to be treated by her too. Definitely recommended.

I have been intermittently using Fulham Osteopaths over the years and always had a really positive experience. Recently, Omer has been incredibly helpful, I went in due to an aching shoulder that had been bothering me for a couple of months, and not only has he really helped with that, but my recent sessions have made my whole back feel looser. I can feel the difference day to day and appreciate it enormously.

Omer is a great practitioner with a warmpersonality. He helped me with plantar fasciitis in particular and the results of the adjustments were impressive. During the session he will explain what is going on in your body and make you aware of the restrictions and differences after the treatment. He also gives tailored advice and exercises do to at home. All in all, thank you Omer and would recommend!

I’ve seen Verena quite a few times over several years for neck and back problems. She is a really great listener and has an exceptional ability to understand your problems, tackle them in the clinic--firmly but gently--and to give advice on how to continue to heal. I can’t recommend Verena too highly.

Great osteopaths, took our 4 week old there for feeding issues and the team were fantastic, the staff are really supportive and friendly and Verena was super helpful in assessing and treating him, as well as providing us with a set of exercises that we could do at home. We have been going regularly ever since and have seen a positive difference in his feeding as well as his overall movement and mobility. Thanks team!

Fulham osteopaths was recommended by a friend for our 2 month old daughter. Lucas was very welcoming at reception and made sure she would have an appointment asap. He’s always proactive and very responsive giving very helpful information re appointments/payment. Our baby was seen very quickly. Melinda was very attentive, thoughtful, caring and very professional. We started seeing improvements straight away, given exercises to do at home and she is thriving now. Will 100% recommend Melinda!
