So many people suffer with headaches! From the occasional and mild to the truly awful, headache is invisible but debilitating. After many years of practice Andrew, one of the principal osteopaths , has developed an extremely successful approach to the treatment of chronic headache.

Even very severe and long standing tension headache generally responds well to treatment, and the aim is to eliminate the headache completely and permanently. This may take a course of treatment if the headache is long standing, but our success rate with tension headache has been audited at close to 100%.

We have referral systems in place for many local GP’s and therapists, we work together to make sure that your recovery is permanent.

Tension Headache

Tension Headache is caused by upper neck trouble, and tension into the muscles and tissues of your head and face, which you feel as an annoying headache. We have developed a natural, safe treatment protocol for all types of tension headache, which offers a chance not only of pain relief but long lasting elimination of symptoms. The treatment involves relaxation and integration of all the bones, muscles and nerves of the neck, and the de-stressing of the junction between the head and neck.
Whether due to posture, stress, old injuries or (as is most usual) a combination, the results are reliable and long lasting.

How much treatment will I need?

Everybody comes with their own unique presentation, which is why the flexible, holistic approach of Structural and Cranial Osteopathy is so effective. Most cases show significant improvement after five treatments at weekly intervals. At this stage the case is reassessed according to progress. In general improvement is progressive as the tension reduces and the body heals and finds balance. It will be up to you how many treatments you wish to have. On average, patients are 90% better after 10 treatments. Andrew will advise you about longer term care and exercises. Many people after a course of treatment no longer have tension headaches, even if their problem was of long standing.

How does it work?

Tension headache derives from tension, which derives from postural strain, old injuries and stress. All of these facors can be helped with treatment, giving you relief from pain.

How much will it cost me?

Treatment costs £120.00 for your first session which includes a detailed case history and then, if appropriate and with your agreement, treatment. Follow ups cost £90.00. Andrew offers reduced fees for concessions, please enquire.

Is treatment safe?

An Osteopath trains full time for four years to the same standards as a medical doctor.
Andrew has furthered his skills with dozens of courses and indeed teaches both the theory and practice of Osteopathy to students and graduates. An osteopath is trained to recognise “risk factors” and treatment always is carefully gauged to suit the individual. Most treatment is very gentle and although some places touched may be sore initially after treatment the pain, and associated headaches, normally ease.
If andrew has any medical concerns regarding your headache he may refer you for a MRI scan or X-Ray, or refer you to your GP for tests. Many patients see andrew after having had scans etc which have come back clear, and other remedies and treatments have not helped.
