Reflexology at Fulham Osteopaths

Reflexology is a relaxing therapy that treats the whole person - mind, body and emotions. Using thumbs and fingers, the practitioner stimulates reflex areas on the ‘map’ of the body that can be found on the feet. Treating the body as a whole (i.e. holistically) encourages balance throughout the mind, body and emotions, resulting in a greater sense of wellbeing.
What are the benefits?Reflexology can help people of all ages, whether as a therapy for the unwell or as a revitalisation for the healthy. Reflexology can help to ease a broad range of ailments, from chronic to mild. But Reflexology is not like aspirin or cough syrup, a remedy to be pulled out of the medicine cupboard only when you are feeling ill. Reflexology is also for the strong and active, the busy, energetic person whose life is constantly on the go. Your reflexologist understands only too well the effects that stress can have on people, and therefore just how much everyone needs balance, relaxation and peace to boost their wellbeing, in today’s world.
Where did it come from?
Reflexology is both old and new. From ancient texts, illustrations and artefacts, we know that the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health. Today, many of these same techniques have been developed into a modern scientific method called Reflexology, a discipline that builds on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all the major organs and systems of the body.
